The latest WhatsApp’s version for iOS, 24.20.78, is now available on the App Store, introducing new video playback controls. Be sure to update!
Apple users have been anticipating video recording features for months. In July 2024, WhatsApp introduced a video note mode for the camera, enhancing the way users record and share video messages. This feature allows users to easily capture and send video notes directly from the camera interface within their chats.
According to a report from the reliable WABetaInfo site, the new WhatsApp for iOS (version 24.20.78) expands on previous updates.
The changelog for this version introduces new video playback speed controls, offering three options: normal, 1.5x, and 2x. This feature allows users to watch videos at their preferred speed or save time on longer videos. The playback speed control is conveniently placed next to the progress bar for easy access.
The changelog also announces the widespread release of a picture-in-picture feature for videos. This allows users to resize and move the video window around the screen, offering greater flexibility while multitasking. A button near the playback bar enables this mode, letting users continue watching videos while chatting, browsing other conversations, or using other apps.
The picture-in-picture window includes essential controls like forward, backward, and pause, ensuring easy video management without interruptions. This feature is compatible with iOS 14 and later, as it utilizes an API introduced in iOS 14.
If these features aren’t available yet, they should roll out gradually over the coming weeks. To ensure you receive them, make sure to keep WhatsApp’s updated, as regular updates will provide access to the latest features and improvements.
