WhatsApp Adds Another Instagram-Style Feature for Status Updates

WhatsApp has recently rolled out several upgrades. In a significant new development, it has introduced a private tagging feature for status updates. This feature is currently being whatsApp’s launched and will soon be accessible to users around the world.

With this new feature, users can privately tag contacts in their status updates, react to others’ statuses, and even re-share statuses they are mentioned in.

In a blog post, WhatsApp developers stated, “Ensure that those closest to you see your status and make it easy for them to re-share it with their audience by privately mentioning them.” The company also noted that users who are mentioned in status updates will receive a private notification, though the mention itself won’t appear on their status.

In addition to the tagging feature, the platform has introduced a new whatsApp’s status ‘likes’ option, allowing users to express their enjoyment of someone’s status. With just a tap of the like button, users can show appreciation for their contacts’ status updates.

Similar to the tagging feature, likes will also be private and won’t have a visible counter. This means that only the person whose status you liked will see it in their list of viewers.

In their blog post, WhatsApp stated, “We will be introducing more features to Status and the Updates tab in the coming months to help you stay connected with those who matter most.”

Furthermore, the Meta-owned company is reportedly working on a Meta AI voice mode feature. This update is anticipated to provide various voice options and enable two-way voice communication with artificial intelligence (AI).

Some of the voices may include UK accents, while others may feature US accents. According to the company led by Mark Zuckerberg, these new updates will help users explore their ideas, enhance their conversations, and try out new experiences. Additionally, reports indicate that Meta plans to include voices of public figures, although their identities have not been disclosed.
