The Oura Ring 4 is now officially released, and it has many upgrades compared to the previous Gen 3 version from three years ago.

The Oura Ring 4 has a complete titanium exterior and interior, replacing the epoxy used in the previous model. It is 2.88mm thick and weighs between 3.3 and 5.2 grams, depending on the size. It is also water-resistant up to 100 meters.

The sensors inside are much thinner, measuring just 0.3mm compared to 1.3mm in the Gen 3 ring, and they don’t stick out anymore. Even though the sensors are smaller, Oura promises better accuracy.

Oura claims a 120% improvement in blood oxygen (SpO2) measurements and a 30% increase in accuracy during sleep compared to the Ring Gen 3. The new ring also features a more precise heart rate sensor, reducing gaps in daytime and nighttime heart rate readings, and it provides a better breathing distribution index (BDI) thanks to enhanced signal quality.

To address a common issue with smart rings, Oura has implemented an update algorithm that optimizes the timing of signal access from your finger.

The Ring 4 includes improved automatic activity detection with support for over 40 activity modes and heart rate monitoring with zone breakdowns. It also tracks sleep, stress, and reproductive health trends. The automatic activity and stress tracking features will also be available for the older Ring Gen 3.

The Ring 4 has a battery life of up to 8 days on a single charge and uses a new charging dock for recharging.

The Oura Ring 4 is available in Silver, Black, Brushed Silver, Stealth, Gold, and Rose Gold, with sizes ranging from 4 to 15. The starting price is $349/€399/£399, and there’s an additional charge of $/€/£ 5.99 per month ($/€/£ 69.99 per year) for the Oura Membership plan.
