LG Unveils Its First 480Hz OLED Gaming Monitor Priced at $1,000

LG’s new UltraGear 27GX790A (GX7) OLED gaming monitor, priced at $999.99, is now available for preorder. This 27-inch model stands out with a 480Hz refresh rate, a 2560 x 1440 resolution, and a rapid 0.03ms response time, making it one of the fastest gaming monitors on the market. Its display is built on a cutting-edge OLED panel from LG Display, first revealed in January.

Compared to Sony’s $1,100 InZone M10S, the UltraGear GX7 offers similar base specifications at a slightly lower price. However, it lacks some of the advanced performance modes and variable refresh rate features found in Sony’s monitor. Despite being listed for preorder on LG’s US website, the GX7 currently cannot be added to the cart, and there’s no confirmed delivery date. LG has been contacted for clarification, and updates are expected soon.

The GX7 supports both Nvidia’s G-Sync and AMD’s FreeSync technologies to minimize screen tearing and flickering, ensuring smooth gameplay. It features a DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, delivering deep blacks and vibrant colors. An “Anti-Glare and Low Reflection” coating enhances visibility in bright environments, making it versatile for different lighting conditions.

Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, USB 3.0, and a headphone jack, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices. The monitor also comes with a sleek, height-adjustable stand that can tilt up to 15 degrees and swivel up to 30 degrees, offering ergonomic flexibility. With its high-speed performance and thoughtful design features, the UltraGear GX7 aims to deliver an exceptional gaming experience at a competitive price point.
