Xbox Handheld to Use Custom AMD Chip, Not ARM

Xbox Handheld to Feature Custom AMD APU, Not ARM – Rumor Suggests Recent speculation surrounding Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox handheld device is being challenged by fresh insights. Despite earlier reports hinting at a possible ARM-based design, a trusted AMD leaker, KeplerL2, has revealed on NeoGAF forums that the handheld will instead feature a custom low-power APU from AMD. This move stays consistent with Microsoft’s reliance on AMD for its previous Xbox hardware. The shift away from ARM architecture means better compatibility with the current Xbox game library, ensuring a smooth transition for users and developers alike. Though ARM offers energy efficiency—a plus for handheld devices—it would have sacrificed backward compatibility, which is a key part of Xbox’s current ecosystem strategy...

Digital Detox Backfire TikTok’s Paradox

TikTok’s Paradoxical Effect on Screen Time Efforts to limit screen time on TikTok might be doing more harm than good—at least for some users. A recent study coauthored by Christopher Newman from the University of Mississippi and Emma G. Galvan from Georgia Southern University found that TikTok's built-in digital detox tools, such as time limit reminders, may actually increase screen time for certain users. Published in the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, the research introduces the "digital detox paradox." This phenomenon occurs when less skeptical users—those who are generally more trusting of advertising—interpret TikTok’s wellness prompts as a sign of authenticity. Ironically, this makes them more engaged with the app, using it more frequently and for longer durations. This u...

Apple Likely to Raise iPhone 17 Prices, WSJ Reports

Apple is reportedly considering increasing the prices of its upcoming iPhone 17 series, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal. While the final decision has yet to be made, sources familiar with the matter suggest that the potential price hike is not related to the ongoing US-China trade tensions. Despite a temporary 90-day pause in new tariffs between the two nations, Chinese imports entering the U.S. are still subject to a 30% tariff. However, Apple is not expected to link any price adjustments for the iPhone 17 to these levies. Instead, the company is believed to be planning the increase to reflect several major design and feature upgrades, particularly with the introduction of the iPhone 17 Air, a new model touted for its ultra-thin and lightweight build. Additionally...

Apple Loses Control Over App Payment Links in US

In a big win for app developers, a US judge has ruled that Apple can no longer control or take a cut from external payment links in apps available on the App Store in the United States. This decision came from Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers as part of the long-running legal fight between Apple and Epic Games, which started over four years ago. While Apple had won a previous ruling, this latest one favors Epic and all developers who don’t want to use Apple’s payment system. According to the new order: Apple can’t charge any fees or commissions for purchases made outside the app. Developers are free to add links or buttons that take users to third-party websites for payments. Apple can’t control how these links look or where they’re placed. Apple also can’t show warning messa...

Apple to Launch iPhone 19 Air with Bigger Display in 2027

What to Expect from the iPhone 19 Air Jumping ahead to 2027, the iPhone 19 Air is expected to be a larger version of the Air model, possibly featuring an even bigger display than the iPhone 17 or 18 Air. While exact dimensions haven’t been confirmed, analysts expect the iPhone 19 Air to have a screen that may approach or match the size of the iPhone 19 Pro Max, while still maintaining the Air series’ thin and lightweight form. This means Apple could be aiming to merge size and portability—offering users a big-screen experience in a slim device. Additionally, Apple may use this model to showcase new display technology, potentially including OLED improvements, refresh rate upgrades, or even microLED displays. A Big Year for the iPhone 2027 Apple’s 2027 roadmap appears to be loaded wi...
