An AI-generated trailer for Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 has gone viral on social media, as fans eagerly await the release of the second official trailer. Last year, the developer released the first official trailer, revealing that GTA 6 will be set in a fictional Vice City, inspired by Miami, and will feature the franchise’s first playable female character.
As fans await more updates, they have recreated the first trailer using AI, and the fan-made version has since gained widespread attention across social media platforms. A Reddit post highlighted a video comparing the actual GTA 6 trailer to this AI-generated fan edit.
The viral video shows side-by-side clips, including scenes of the protagonist Lucia in prison, a shop entrance with Jason, and a bustling street on Ocean Drive. Although the AI version has exaggerated colors, it is being praised for its technical execution.
However, fans criticized the viral recreation of the trailer for the sixth installment of the Grand Theft Auto series.
“You can keep the AI-generated content. Rockstar’s artists will deliver a once-in-a-lifetime experience that no AI, regardless of how advanced, can replicate,” one user commented.
“This is just the beginning. In one or two years, we’ll see real-time visuals at 60fps or higher, allowing us to play GTA 5 and GTA 6 with life-like graphics,” another user stated.
“Someone just ran game footage through an AI program, and it looks terrible. The actual game, played on proper equipment, will look far better than this,” a third user added.
It’s also worth mentioning that Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, announced earlier this year that GTA 6 will be released in Fall 2025. Rockstar later confirmed the game will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but a PC release date remains unannounced.
